The Greatest of These is Chance

In the exhibition The Greatest of These is Chance, Elina Warsta is presenting her own personal art for the first time: illustrated ceramics and three-dimensional memories. Warsta is fascinated by what and how we remember. The illustrations in the exhibition highlight moments from everyday life. They are moments that have left a visual impression, but that no longer correspond to reality. When creating the exhibition, Warsta has reflected on how three-dimensional surfaces and illustrations come together to create a different way of looking at the image, and how the shape of an object affects the way the image is seen and experienced. A central part of the process was Warsta’s desire to create things by hand and to take the image as far away as possible from computer programs that strive for flawless expression. Chances are allowed and welcome.

Elina Warsta (b. 1979) is an illustrator and graphic designer, whose book cover illustrations have received the Most Beautiful Books of the Year award multiple times. Warsta’s delicate and nuanced style is familiar to the public also from numerous children’s books.
