Galleria Kuvitus exhibits illustrations in various contexts and showcases client-commissioned illustrations in addition to independent projects. This spring’s group exhibition features a rarely-exhibited form of illustration: product packaging.
The idea came from Piia Keto who also found a number of other packaging designers, and the spring exhibition will showcase the work of 20 illustrators.
Among the works of the group registered for the exhibition, you can find packaging sets designed for big brands as well as individual orders made for small companies over a period of 14 years. The exhibition coordination, design & installation is made by Veera Pekkinen.
Successful packaging illustrations can influence product impressions, appeal to different target groups and boost sales. The “Kuvitusala nyt” (Illustration Field Today) survey conducted by the Finnish Illustration Association in 2023 revealed that about one in three illustrators create packaging illustrations.
The text is based on the article by Henna Hietamäki in Kuvittaja magazine 1/24.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on Thursday, 21 March, 5:00–7:00 pm.
The illustrators of the exhibition can also be met at the gallery on the following Sundays: 7.4. Valpuri Kerttula & Noora Ketolainen, 14.4. Piia Keto & Jussi Karjalainen.
