Janne Iivonen is a Finnish-born professional illustrator known for his ligne claire drawing style, who lives and works in Brighton, England. Focusing on character-driven illustration, Iivonen’s design lan- guage is purposeful and clear, and the illustrations have a positive vibe. Iivonen holds a BA (Hons) in Illustration from the prestigious Illustration program at the University of Brighton. His agency is Making Pictures, London, Los Angeles, Vancouver.

The exhibition presents commercial illustrations realized as giglee prints, featuring stylized human fig- ures. Recurring themes include technology, architecture and fashion. Iivonen’s international clientele includes top publications, brands and actors from the United States, Great Britain and Germany, as well as Japan and Korea. The exhibition also features examples of packaging/merch illustration (RAMA Works, Harry’s, Baskin Robbins, Times Square Seoul) and a magazine cover illustration (MONOCLE).

The drawing style of Tintin creator, Belgian cartoonist Hergé, was given the French name ligne claire, meaning clear line. It involves clear outlines and clean color surfaces. Those who draw in the same style have also been called the Brussels School.
