Anu Saari’s “Daydreams” project invites people to dream. It all started with Saari’s long-standing dream to illustrate freely and to have her own exhibition in Japan. When this came true, Saari wanted to pay it forward. The idea of visualising other people’s dreams was born: a dialogical concept where the illustrator uses the dreams of the exhibition visitors to build the next exhibition.

So far, the illustrator has collected hundreds of dreams. She feels it has changed her perception of dreaming. According to Saari, there’s a lot of goodness, hopefulness and potential in people that might not be portrayed in everyday life or in the media. The “Daydreams” project brings it to light. Each exhibition is unique, also in regard to technique and illustration style. The style of the latest exhibition is the result of experimenting with risographs. Recycled paper, soy-based ink and biodegradable natural rubber are used as materials for the works. The fourth exhibition of the “Daydreams” project is held at Galleria Kuvitus. The project has been supported over the years by Kuvittajat ry, Grafia, Ornamo and the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.

Anu Saari is a Helsinki based illustrator and designer with a Master of Arts degree. Besides her freelance work she is the co-founder and Creative Director of the award winning Finnish accessory brand Moiko.
