Hi! I'm Aino Saarikivi, a Helsinki-based graphic designer and illustrator and a visual designer with 20 years of experience in print media. I'm currently working at Viestimedia as a graphic designer and illustrator. I can work in Finnish and English.
Combining graphic design and illustration is one of my strengths as an artist. I’ve been praised for my imaginative designs, professionalism and the fact that my style fits a variety of subjects. Experimenting with different styles and fondness for using rich colors, textures and atmospheres is at the core of my work.

Here are Päivätär and Kuutar and their little rays of light. This illustration was inspired by the Finnish mythology and I also wanted to experiment with digital watercolor brushes.
Päivätär and Kuutar are goddesses of the Sun and the Moon and emuus (origin mothers) of bees. They appear in spells that were sung in order to prevent these insects from stinging. There is also one spell from Finnish Karelia that states that the world tree grew from the golden and silver tears of Kuutar and Päivätär.
They own the silver of the Sun and the gold of the Moon, spin golden and silver yarns and weave clothes out of them. The name Päivätär originates from the word ”päivä” (”Sun” and also ”day”) and Kuutar comes from ”kuu” (”Moon”).
