Hanna Malinen

Hanna Malinen (b. 1984) is an illustrator, graphic designer, and pattern designer based in Helsinki and Berlin. The cornerstones of Hanna’s distinctive illustration style are a carefully considered color palette and minimalist yet memorable forms. Her cheerful-looking illustrations often feature quirky, offbeat, or even rough details, while maintaining an overall sense of harmony.

She draws inspiration from everywhere – forests, remote areas, suburbs, the urban pulse, and even outer space. Hanna often finishes her vector illustrations with hand-drawn details and textures, using traditional tools like ink, gouache, and watercolors.

She is a pleasant and insightful collaborator and is known for never missing a deadline. Her latest passion lies in pattern design – especially for home textiles and clothing. Her clients include VIMMA, Universal Music, Academic Engineers and Architects in Finland TEK, and the Finnish News Media Association.

Available to work in English & Finnish.
