Ida Wikström
Hi! I'm Ida Wikström, a graphic designer, illustrator and lecturer based in Pietarsaari. I have three children whose drawing styles inspire me deeply, and I often borrow from their expressive ways when shaping my own visual language. I teach graphic design and illustration at higher education level, and I lead illustration workshops for children. On my website, you can find examples of my previous illustrations as well as graphic design products. I work in Swedish, Finnish, and English.
I have a conceptual approach to illustration and I get excited when I discover a strong underlying idea to build the artwork around. Recently, I’ve worked mostly with children’s books, but I also do editorial illustration.

Knyckarna is a picture book by Malin Klingenberg about Milton and his grandfather’s little sister Helga. Helga has an enormous apple tree, which unfortunately attracts a dangerous gang of apple thieves. Milton and Helga decide to outwit this gang, and together they set an ingenious trap. In addition to being a crime fighter, Milton is also a cartoonist, and the story is carried forward by traditional children’s book illustrations as well as Milton’s comics. Writer: Malin Klingenberg.

The author, Tobias Pettersson was taking a class on writing reportages in which every participant where asked to throw a needle at a map, travel to the place where the needle landed and write a reportage of the place in question.
