Laura Haapamäki
Hi! I'm Laura Haapamäki (she/her), an illustrator and graphic designer with my own small business in Rovaniemi, Lapland. I love to illustrate things that don't exist and imagine what they would look like. I love fantasy, history and children's book illustrations. I have illustrated several children's books and also created various marketing illustrations. I do all my professional work with Adobe Photoshop. Due to my background in graphic design and video production, I understand the technical requirements for images in various media. I work remotely for clients around Finland and abroad. I speak Finnish and English.
In my free time I do yoga and play video games.
My focus is illustrating fantastical and imaginary things with Adobe Photoshop. I am also good with Illustrator, InDesign and Premiere Pro and I can do basic 3D modeling with Blender.

The exhibition explores forests in Eastern Finland in 17th to 20th centuries, and folk beliefs about the forest. All the images are painted with Photoshop. Some of them were printed very large on the museum wall, some were projected on the walls, and some were used on the smaller details, pedagogical materials and museum shop products.
I took great care that the forests, plants and animal species were correct. We discussed with the museum staff about which species they wanted in the images, and I even went on a couple trips to old forests to shoot reference materials. It was a very interesting project!
