Ilona Partanen
Hi! I'm Ilona Partanen, an illustrator, visual storyteller, and children's book author living in Helsinki.
I love translating abstract concepts into concrete entities. My illustration style includes organic shapes, vibrant colour combinations and lively pattern surfaces. They have enriched articles and stories both in books and magazines. Mythology, dreams and biology themes inspire me.
In addition to illustration, I design patterns for licensing through Napa Agency. I also have experience in designing public art – I work on spatial storytelling, wayfinding, and illustration at Kakadu Oy. I graduated as a Master of Fine Arts from Aalto University in 2018 and as graphic designer from Lahti Institute of Design in 2011.
Children's literature, pattern design, public art and adapting illustrations to three-dimensional space, visual storytelling.
