Together at Dusk
The exhibition Together at Dusk reflects on and deconstructs lesbian imagery, in which lesbians are portrayed as monstrous figures who ‘seduce’ women. Alongside a new series of images created digitally between 2025 and 2026, the exhibition features magazine illustrations that address queer and feminist themes more broadly.
Adding a three-dimensional dimension to the exhibition are illustrations hand-drawn on leaded glass using traditional techniques, as well as the Lilat zine, designed by Andelin, which explores, through images and text, the meanings and experiences of lesbians in contemporary Finland. The key aim is to facilitate a multi-voiced portrayal of lesbianism.
Nina Andelin is a Helsinki-based multidisciplinary creative professional who specialises in publication design and self-initiated publishing. She has worked as an illustrator, graphic designer and art director, as well as a part-time lecturer at Aalto University. In her practice, Andelin explores and comments on conventions in illustration and design. Her clients include Publishing houses Förlaget, Kosmos and Otava, Uusi Juttu magazine, Q-theatre, Helsinki City Museum and Uniarts Helsinki.
