Fanni Lyytikäinen
I’m a Helsinki-based illustrator, artist, and visual storyteller (MA in Arts, Aalto University) working across cultural and commercial projects. I create atmospheric illustrations, characters, and adaptable visual elements for brands, campaigns, events, and publications, often inspired by animals, nature, food, and culture.
My background in fashion, textiles, and styling informs my interest in storytelling, materiality, texture, color, and composition. I combine analog and digital techniques such as Japanese ink, watercolor, pencils, markers, and Procreate through an intuitive, collage-like approach. Inspired by paper as a material, Japanese ukiyo-e, mythology, cinema, and styled environments, I create playful visual worlds that balance warmth, atmosphere, and a contemporary sensibility.
I’m available for freelance projects of varying scope. Feel free to get in touch.
My core expertise is creating atmospheric visual worlds for brands and publications. I make scenes, characters, and visual elements (animals, nature, food, fashion) using ink, wax crayons, and Procreate in a ukiyo-e–inspired style. I work with storytelling, color, and composition, supporting brand visuals, photography, and text.

Logo, logomark and brand illustrations
I created illustrations, an illustrated logomark, and a full logo for Sommar, a summer restaurant in Turku. Sommar offers relaxed, Finnish summer-inspired dishes made from fresh, local ingredients. The menu changes almost weekly and sometimes even daily depending on what the chefs pick up from local farmers’ markets. The logo captures this light, spontaneous vibe, reminiscent of a “shopping list” or a handwritten summer note. Hundreds of ink sketches were explored, curated, and refined into the final design. The logomark draws from the restaurant’s name. Sommar means “summer” in Swedish, reflecting Turku’s strong Swedish-speaking heritage. The sun motif also subtly nods to Southern Italian influences, inspired by the head chef. This includes references to Sicily’s Three-Legged Symbol (Trinacria) and traditional sun symbols in Italian art and ceramics.

Cream Files Studios / Marketing illustrations inspired by infographics
For Cream Files Studios, I created illustrations that support the studio’s visual identity and clarify its services. The work was made by hand using Indian ink and markers, then scanned and refined into still illustrations and animations following the studio’s color palette. An infographic-inspired approach helped keep the visuals clear and informative, making services such as facials and consultations easy to understand at a glance.
