Nina Huisman

Hi! I am Nina Huisman, an illustrator, graphic designer, photographer and visual artist from Jyväskylä. I work on a variety of commissions, in many different media and styles, according to the client's needs and wishes. Could I be of assistance?

I have a long experience in editorial illustration, for which I have been awarded in the European Newspaper Award. Since 1995 I have also designed and illustrated packaging, visual identity, brochures, books, postcards, posters, children's album covers, fair stands and event posters.

In my work with clients, I emphasize good, straightforward collaboration, a conversational approach, understanding the client's needs, desires and values, and seeing the big picture. I particularly enjoy problem solving, creating an 'aha' experience and making it all work, both visually and in terms of content.

I work through my company, Mustavalkea Oy.

My work often combines illustration, photography and graphic design. In illustration, I combine traditional techniques with digital methods. My strength is seeing the big picture of a project and finding the essence. I also enjoy teaching, which I do alongside my design work.
