Oona Himanen
Hi there! I am an illustrator, graphic designer and visual artist from Espoo. If you live in Finland, you might know my work from postage stamps which I designed and illustrated for Posti. In addition, I have illustrated magazines, book covers and made pictures for advertisements. You can even find my illustrations of a bird or a squirrel on the side of a drinking bottles.
I create my illustrations digitally but always aim for a hand-drawn impression. My style combines realism and painterly textures. I love illustrating portraits and nature subjects.

Storytelling and creating an atmosphere are my specialty. This can be seen especially in my journalistic illustrations.

I designed the illustrations for the bottle series, which was made in collaboration with the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation and SIGG. The bottles present endangered species in Finland and are made of 100% recycled aluminum. A large part of the profits from the bottles are directed to nature conservation work in Finland.
