Annukka Mäkijärvi
Hi! I'm Annukka Mäkijärvi, an illustrator and graphic designer originally from North Karelia, later moved to Helsinki. I love animal and nature themes, especially dogs, which I always use in my illustrations when the situation allows. I am also interested in art, culture, history and science, as well as people and lifestyle. I like to use humour and thoughtful colour palettes in my illustrations. My style adapts to many things, but I enjoy organic, flowing lines and shapes as well as the unexpected.
As a graphic designer, I like to be deeply involved in the project and consider the purpose and visuals as a whole. I listen to what the client wants and work out solutions together, but I also enjoy being given free rein. I am fluent in Finnish and English. I work through my own company, so electronic invoicing is available.
Please contact me, I’m also available for commissions on a short-notice!
I specialize in book illustration and cover design, comics, storytelling and characters, visual references and humor.
I work mostly digitally, but my illustrations still show my personal touch. I work in Photoshop, Procreate and Illustrator, as well as hand-drawing and hand-painting. I can also do simple animation on my own images.
