Hi! I'm Miila Westin, a Helsinki-based illustrator, visual narrator and mural artist.

My illustrations are like imaginative glimpses into other worlds. I am especially recognized for expressive characters and colorful, abundant natural elements. I am interested in imagination and psyche as well as animals and other nature themes. I mainly work digitally and use a lot of color and soft shapes.

I approach illustration projects as work where I collaborate with the client. I have received praise for quick communication, abundant ideas and for always staying on schedule. I have previously worked as a graphic designer in advertising and communication agencies, so I understand how important it is to handle projects as agreed and on schedule. Most of my new projects come through recommendations.

My working languages are Finnish and English. I use English in my daily life.
I invoice the work through my company.

I'm often commissioned for imaginative characters, and lately I've been illustrating projects aimed specifically at school children. My style is characterized by the expressiveness of people and creatures and the abundance of details.

I enjoy thinking about concepts, storytelling and wholeness of a project.
